If our building were Hogwarts, Connor would be our Dumbledore. I wonder sometimes if his ability to manage so many responsibilities simultaneously can be attributed to a time travel device. He is by the most professional, hard working, and forward-thinking person I have worked with. As tenant coordinator of the building, I direct a few areas of our management activities. It was not until our property manager Connor was away on his honeymoon that I realized just how many areas there are. From dealing with construction projects and brokers to calling uncooperative vendors, he handles it all like a gentleman. No matter the situation, he keeps his cool and is always willing to help. When we had a major city pipe flooding our basement, he remained patient and handled the situation over a frustrating three weeks of calls and appointments with various personnel. I would not have known what to do and often times don’t know what our building would do without him. One of the best things about having Connor at the office is that he is open to new ways of improving our workflow and questions if there is a better way of doing something. He allows me to think outside the box and is always coming up with progressive solutions to everyday issues. In the last month alone, we tweaked how we deal with building engines requests to check in with tenants before closing them out. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive thus far. He also helped work with our accounting team to clear up our vendor names in our payment system to avoid incorrect payments going through and vendors having to wait for payments. No task is too small or unimportant to bring to him and he is always willing to help. He is always the first one at the office and I know without a doubt that we can depend on him to keep our building running smoothly no matter what the day will bring.
What do you love most about your role?
The fact that no two days are ever the same. Property Management is one of those fields where you are constantly experiencing and learning new things. Whether it be managing construction jobs, working on accounting/budgeting projects, something leasing related or working with a tenant, everyday offers new challenges.
What technology do you rely on most in your day to day work?
My cell phone. Between emails, texts, calls and the apps we use to communicate with tenants and track building systems, my phone is an integral part of my day-to-day. It also allows me to be available to the tenants 24/7 which is very important in this industry.
