Jay managed one of our properties, and he did such a great job, we gave him two more! He had little time to prepare for the transition, but he rose to the occasion. The properties had some financial challenges, and Jay spent time assessing and analyzing the situation. In one case, he saved the property money by learning how to manage the HVAC automation system himself. Jay was instrumental on getting both properties on Building Engines and getting the tenants to use it, too. Jay’s super powers include being a self-starter, taking the initiative, being a partner and always providing value-added service.
What do you love most about your role?
The daily interaction with tenants and service providers! Being an operator at heart, addressing tenant concerns quickly through a network of experts, both inside and outside my organization, is very rewarding. But even more so, I find the commonality we all share as regular folks, making a living and providing for our families, very humbling.
What technology do you rely on most in your day to day work?
Mobile apps, for sure! Any app that allows me to streamline responses and increase productivity without losing that personal touch with clients or tenants has my vote. The simple fact that I can respond to any issue with the information in my phone, from anywhere with cell service is amazing to me. Apps that consolidate all I need to resolve issues on one platform and continue improving to meet my needs (such as Building Engines) are key to my success. These apps and the developers/support team behind them are as much my partners as my finance group, leasing team or outside tradesmen and women.
