Tom saves the day every day. By setting an example of how a boss and an employee should be. Everyday he is early and everyday he leaves late. No matter what mood he is in he doesn’t let it affect the way he deals with management and tenant relations. He is always striving to do the best work he can give and helps the tenants with ideals on saving energy cost. He also does the same with management. Recently Tom noticed the large volume of work orders that were coming in on our work order system. They dealt mainly with lighting. What Tom also noticed was the cost of the lamps and the amount of Engineer time being spent every day on lights and ballast. What he did is bring on a team to measure cost and investigate and calculate how much money was being spent on energy vs how much money would be saved if the lights in these areas were retrofitted to LED lighting. The savings was so overwhelming that management gave him the green light to have the lighting retrofitted in these areas. Saving the building a large percentage of energy cost both for building management and for the tenants. It’s reasons like these examples why I selected Tom Magdelino as Maintenance Hero

Overcoming the day to day challenges with the team and keeping up with the ever evolving technology that makes our building a modern and efficient place to work.
What technology do you rely on most in your day to day work?
Desktop computer and mobile phone. We have several dashboards we monitor on the desktop from real time power demand consumption to lighting control and the mobile phone keeps us informed at an instance for work orders, meeting reminders and urgent tenant needs.
